Creativity, collaboration and hands on exploratory activities initiated the 5th grade enrichment program at the beautiful Turtle Cove Beach, located next to the Montauk Lighthouse.
After viewing and discussing a video and images of temporary beach art, students were inspired to comb the beach and cooperatively collect rocks, sand, water and grasses to create and construct a temporary, natural drawing and sculpture in the sand.
The company of local wildlife, including the sighting of a magnificent seal, underscored the fragility and importance of respect for the sea and shoreline that we share.
